Great homes, great clients and their home
transformations.   From starter to million dollar homes,
each client is unique in character, personality and taste
and our goals are to capture their design needs and style!
Before and After Designs

Sometimes it is a simple matter
of changing light fixtures to make
a huge difference in a home.  We
worked with Gregg to change out
the dining room, foyer and
hallway light fixtures and did our
magic with artwork and furniture
placement to create a grand
entrance for this home.

Working with a "blank canvas" allowed for some
creativity in meeting the client's desire for a more
modern look while tying in the traditional style they
had grown to love.  A pop of color and
contemporary window treatments mixed with a
gorgeous chandelier created a simple and
    elegant breakfast nook.

The owners wanted to update their home with a clean,
more modern look and incorporate the items they've
collected throughout their travels. The only new piece
was a dining set - the rest of the furnishings they already
had throughout the home. We converted the German
cabinet in the family room from a storage piece into an
entertainment armoire, to hold a flat screen TV and
gaming consoles.  The transformation was incredible!

Love antiques!  One of the biggest challenges was to
move the pieces into their new rooms.  A chest was
moved into the foyer, corner curio cabinets moved into
the Living room, and a very large buffet with hutch moved
from the living room into the dining room.  We also
replaced the missing mirror.   The rest was the fun of
making the formal spaces look cohesive and beautiful.

For Miss Alexa's room, the transformation is remarkable!
Alexa decided she no longer liked pink, so the changes
began!   In addition to the custom paint job by Clara
Thompson, we built custom cornices, organized, and
brought in a new desk for schoolwork.

    "Dear Ms.Kate,

Thank you for doing my room.     My favorite part in my
room is the desk.  I like the basket filled with toys.  I really
like the shelves for my animals.
    searnsely,

    Alexa"

So many changes!  While the owners were out of town,
we got busy changing out old light fixtures, repainting  the
entire home, unpacking and organizing, updating the
kitchen, and adding our design touches throughout the
home.   So many rooms, we can only add just a few.
    Hope you enjoy!

Let's go shopping!  Having just purchased this house,
the owners needed help selecting furnishings.  A day trip
with Kate  to a local retailer  gave them the furnishings
they needed and the decor made the new house a great
    home.

A young and very talented musician  was the inspiration
for this space lift.    Kate even painted abstract artwork  for
Alex to showcase his very first guitar.

    "Kate,
I kid you not:  every family member had the exact same
reaction I had.  One by one, each person exclaimed, " Oh,
my goodness!"  Alex was almost in tears and Alexa was
in tears.  Alex is very appreciative and Alexa is asking
what we can do to her room.  She is literally crying
because Alex's room looks better than hers...
    Thanks so much...
    Melba"

Copper and brown window treatments, colorful
accessories and custom florals were all that was
needed to transform this into a beautiful room.  An added
element was the quote we placed along the galley wall.

The sad side of foreclosures is when the previous
owners tear up the home.  In this case, the previous
tenants ripped out the cabinets, appliances, carpeting
and light fixtures and damaged the walls and trim work in
the entire home.  A bit of patience, great contractors, and
some finishing touches have definitely turned this house
into a home.

For the love of Blue!  Not only did we paint the master
bedroom and bath in shades of blue, we also painted
frames white and added small details to make this
bedroom absolutely gorgeous!  As a "Thank You"  for all
the referrals and homes the owners have contracted with
us, we gave them a beautiful  chandelier  as a gift.

For newlyweds Jodi and Matt, their first home
was a blank canvas to create a more
contemporary style with a mixture of his and
her collection pieces gathered from their
travels.

The fun thing about working with so many different
collections is the outcome... The Crone family has so
many great antiques and unique piece to work with!   A
collection of hunting items and pelt was transformed into
art - adding rustic charm to the family room.

For this young DC
couple, the apartment
has spectacular views
of DC's finest
monuments, but the
inside needed some
help.  With some
creative thought we
worked some magic
to create a gallery feel
for the small spaces.

Hall Home

Rich colors, window treatments, decor and furniture
placement made a dramatic change in  this home, and
helped the husband overcome is fear of color!

Roehl Home

This bathroom has a long history of changes - 200 years
worth to be exact!  We gave the bath a great space lift
with wide plank beadboard, trim and cottage green to
capture the farm house feel for this modern bath.  Read
about the changes it has undergone in recent years
through our friends at

Paul and Stacy wanted to incorporate a mixed collection of treasures into their new condo.  Starting with a metallic glaze  to add interest to one
wall, the room was finished off with punches of color, new lighting and window treatments..

This home was so much fun!   Color, crown molding,
boxed paneling, and a few other changes make such a
difference in this home.    Read more about this home in
    the Free Lance Star.

The Westwood farmhouse was built in 1818 and it was our pleasure to help Leah and her family bring a charming country feel to her living
room.  We started with repairing the plaster walls, painting the room a beautiful color and repainting all the original trim and fireplace.  Leah
selected a beautiful sofa set and we picked out gorgeous bookcases from Bramble Now.   Kate then found two antique tables and added
those as well as other found treasures into the mix.  And as always, custom creations were made for Leah and her family to add personalized
details to the design.  You can read more about this home in the Free Lance Star and  view Leah's thoughts at Westwood Stories.

Dear Kate,
Just wanted to put in writing how wonderful we think you are.  Bill and
I are overjoyed with our new half bath.  You did the most amazing
decorating transformation we have ever seen in so short of time.  Bill
could not believe the cost with all that you accomplished in making
our half bath the talk of our friends and family.  They all were in awe.
You are the best at what you do to transform from plain and drab to
spectacular and beautiful.  Can't wait till we can transform other
rooms in our home.

Sending you our Love,  Nancy and Bill
What a difference color makes!  We selected beautiful shades of
green, made custom throw rugs, and added decorative elements
to turn this half bath into an elegant room.

Hampton Home - A dramatic change to suit this young
family.  Removing dated columns, installing new lighting,
painting and design creating a home reflective of their
tastes.

After
"Hi Kate,  I absolutely loved the results of the redesign.  You guys did a
fabulous job...  You really did a great job picking out stuff that really worked
with our tastes and style and I'm amazed at all that you were able to get
within the budget that you came up with.  We were thrilled with the results
when we got home,  Emmersen was so excited.  She said she never
wants to leave again and that it looks like a castle.  She was genuinely so
appreciative and so pleased with her room.  So thank you again very much
for everything you did.  It just looks great.  Thanks again so much for
everything,  Nicole"

Nevius Home - We wanted to bring in vibrant and colorful
window treatments, wall color  and accessories and
really dress the room  up to reflect the young,
professional couple's style!  Adding recessed lights
really helped bring elegance to this room.

"Thanks again -- everything looks great!
