Such a great couple! Located in Historic Fredericksburg, we had
the pleasure and opportunity to surprise them while they were out.
We made simple changes to their home, moved furniture, found
great pieces hidden away and added special touches!

Merel Home
For this home, a lot of changes were made - window treatments,
new furnishings, color and artwork made a huge difference!

A kitchen "space lift" was achieved first by
removing the corner counter cabinet to
create more counter space. Then we
ripped out the old tile top, replaced the
old sink with a deeper undermount sink,
installed granite , to include a larger slab
for the island, installed a new gas
cooktop and added cabinet pulls and
knobs. A simple, but elegant change for

The owners wanted clean and simple and very toddler friendly. We
kept with the theme, adding more storage with the console table
and a stylish storage trunk for the toys and played up the colors in
the furnishings with textiles and accessories.

This was an incredibly fun redesign! With all the fossils and artifacts, we
didn't have to "dig" too much to find great items to use in this home. New
window treatments, fresh paint and a bit of creativity allowed us to
balance the room and create a sense of coziness and comfort.

When this house was first purchased, the owners used a room
as an office. We converted it back into a bedroom suitable for a
young athelete. Magnetic paint turned an ordinary wall into a
great backdrop for his desk area too.

For Margaret and Robert, the design started with selecting custom bedding
and window treatments. We built cornices for the windows and created a
cozy sitting area. The end results captured exactly what the owners had

"Kate, You are an angel, an artist and a magician, all rolled into one! I can't thank you enough for the happiness that you have
given to me and my family. It's been almost two weeks since our redesign and I'm still on cloud-9 over the amazing transformation
that you performed in our house. I'm not sure that I can find the words to describe the many joys that you have given us. For the

Jones home - For this studio apartment at Pentagon Row, we needed a
multi-functional, space saving approach, yet bring in elegant
furnishings and accessories the young professional desired. We gave
her a dining area that also serves as extra seating and work space by
mixing the seating up and changing the table top. The one of a kind
bed is absolutely gorgeous and the designer's favorite!

For Alison, we did most of the redesign virtually. Alison first contacted us in 2007
seeking help in selecting window treatments, bedding, and paint suggestions.
After she found a great new bedroom set, we began the process of adding the
dramatic elegance she desired. The finishing touches were completed with a
visit from Kate and we found a perfect chaise hidden in her office to redefine a
great reading area!
